Why Join CERT

•You will learn to recognize and prevent hazards in your home.

•You will acquire the basic skills to help save lives and protect property.

•You will be trained to recognize and respond to hazards that are unique to New Milford residents.

•You will have the training to assist other first responders during emergencies.

CERT Member Requirements

You must be at least 18 years of age.

You must have the desire to serve your community.

You must complete the free 20-hour basic course which includes:

•Disaster Preparedness

•Fire Safety

•Disaster Medical Operations

•CERT Organization

•Light Search & Rescue

•Treatment of Life-Threatening Conditions

•Additional training is available and provided by CERT and other resources free of charge

CERT asks its members to attend six meetings/trainings, two refresher classes, and two drills each year to maintain and refine skills.
